Why does Wells Fargo Bank put a lengthy hold on deposits that are greater than $5,000.00 and out of state bank?

2010-02-25

I made a $16000.00 deposit yesterday and I cannot use all funds until 11/30. A small portion (4900.00) will be available on 11/20/09.

I argued with the branch manager who was claiming the delay was because it is an out of state check (portion of estate payoff). I told him that I could go out of state and write a personal check and that the check will be paid as soon as presented to Wells Fargo with total time of maybe 48hrs.

Is this standard practice of banks to hold large deposits on personal checking accounts this long? Or am I getting hosed by Wells Fargo Bank? Is Wells Fargo just wanting to use my money for several days?

Answer:It's one of those old procedures that's stuck through technological updates. Most commonly, the answer is that they need to wait for the check to clear. However, in today's day and age when most things clear overnight, the banks are using the float.

Another reason they may hold it is that the check presented may be fraudulent, and that would a logical rationale to holding a check. If you have the time, you may want to go to your bank and sit with a rep to have them check with the clearing bank to see whether or not the funds have cleared. I've done this in the past, and typically, the manager has the authority to release the funds once they can verify that the check was paid.

Answer:Each bank sets its own conditions on funds availability. These holds are due to the extensive incidents of counterfeit and NSF checks. Your deposit will ultimately be "back credited" to the date you made it; the funds just aren't available until the waiting period ends.

Answer:Most banks put long holds on large dollar volume checks. Especially when these checks are from out-of-state.

It's because if the check is bad, it takes about two weeks for the check to be returned to the bank where you cashed it. After the bank where it's drawn determines that the check won't be paid it has to be returned to its regional Federal Reserve Bank. And then they sort through them and return it to your bank's regional Federal Reserve Bank. And then they sort through them and return it to your bank. And then they have to sort them and enter the information.

If the bank where it was drawn on has a branch in your area, I would have cashed it there. Then you could have taken the cash to Wells Fargo and deposited there. I had to do the same with a large check drawn on Wachovia and then deposit the cash at BofA.

Have lloyds screwed up my credit rating`?

2010-02-25

back in 2007 i got a new job which i needed a bank account to be paid for, so i set one up at lloyds

what lloyds didnt tell me was that they had also set up a subsidary account where a percentage (not known how much) would be transferred over from main account to second account for me,

i got home that night and was told i already had a account with nationwide that i had since a child, and so i rang up and canncled the account, when the card came via post it was returned to branch,

a year of so down the line i went into lloyds as i was shopping around for large savings accounts,

i was informed i owed them 400 plus , after explaining to the bank manager he closed the account down completely and properly and appologised and said it would not affect my credit rating in any way,

what they didnt tell me was that it already had and they hadnt removed it completely

below is a picture from equafax of my credit histroy i have 11 months of default and 2 months where it was sorted and closed

now for the first time i have had a look at my credit report and bamm 11 defaults , ive rang the credit ref company who said to ring the bank who transferred me through to lloyds branch who would you believe it can not find me anyway and i mean for 2 hours on the phone, with my name and 3 of the addresses i had lived at,

now they assure me because it was closed satisfactory them 11defaults mean nothing

is this true?

what can i do about it

bare in mind i dont have any details as the account never opened properly

thank you any help would be appreciated and i ask if you answer please keep an eye on the question

thank you in advance

Answer:Those 11 defaults mean a lot and creditors who look at your credit file will see that and get scared away. Did you get what they said in writing? That it wasn't going to affect your CR? If yes then you can send it to the 3 CRA's and get it removed, but if not then you will have to go back and deal with Lloyds but remember to get everything in writing because if it's not in writing then it never happened.

Agreement with a collection agency?

2010-02-25

A collection agency insisted I owed them $1300 on a credit card which only had a $500 limit.

They said they would work it out so I would only have to pay $830. I refused and mailed them a letter stating I will only pay them $500 in a 4 month period.

Along with this letter sent my first payment with a self addressed letter stating that if they don't accept my agreement please send my payment back.

They accepted the first 2 payments and sent back the 3rd payment raising the amount to $720. Should I stick to my guns or take them to court.

Answer:What grounds are you thinking you can take them to court to make them accept your offer?? I've not heard of anyone trying that,

Of course they'll claim you owe 3-times the original amount, They probably bought your account for 50, so they'd be more than willing to accept the 500,

however …

Unfortunately at this point you've restarted the SOL,,, You should have negotiated with them first and You really should not have paid them anything until you had enough money to pay the $500 in full, If you want to pay the full amount,

Start negotiating with them now and tell em' if they want the rest of the 500 you offered they'd better agree for a pay for delete of the account, PFD, ie, you pay them the money and they delete the account from your credit reports,

Also, you need to send everything either certified or registered mail,, that way you have proof they at least received your correspondence, so if they take you to court, you can show the judge you tried negotiating in good faith, he may agree with you …

Good luck,

Answer:Just because the limit is only $500.00 does not mean you can't owe more…if you spend $500.00 then fail to pay it back you accrue interest on a compounding scale so it is possible that the original $500.00 has increased to the $1300.00 because of interest.

I need a bad credit loan can any tell me of a good company?

2010-02-25

If your in the UK, try Real Personal Finance or FLM Loans.

Answer:Uk answer: I'm sure you are already aware, but the likes of 'Reverend Famous' and 'HillaryClinton loans', or whatever they call themselves these days (all have free email addresses, such as gmail, yahoomail or hotmail, etc) are scams. They promise loans at ridiculous rates, but then require arrangement/transfer fees. You pay these, they make off with the money, you never hear from them again.

You should think very carefully before taking a bad credit loan – if you have had problems in the past, how can you be certain of maintaining the repayments, and helping to rebuild your credit status? Provident are a reputable and long-standing loan firm – and can advance you up to £500 initially. See http://redo.me.uk/provident

Alternatively, you can borrow money against the value of any car you own (so long as it doesn't have lots of outstanding finance on it). As the loan is guaranteed against the car – which you can continue to drive – there are no credit checks so acceptance is guaranteed – see http://redo.me.uk/logbookloans

Anyone knowledgeable about handling of debtors? My department at work (in the UK) just had a letter from a?

2010-02-25

debtor stating he has had to leave his rented property, was sleeping on someone's sofa and until he found accommodation the only way he could be contacted was by email. His agreed monthly token payments would continue as before. What is the correct way to proceed?

I am asking on here before I ask my boss. Do creditors need asn address to contact him in future to demand updates or settlement? Is the debt written off because he's homeless? What is the usual procedure in this scenario?

Answer:Hope he continues with monthly token payments. If this unfortunate guy is homeless you dont have much chance of recovering money from him.

I made a private loan…?

2010-02-25

I made a $5,000 loan under a promissory note to a private individual. This person left the country (to the UK) and I presume never to return. If I suspect I were duped, is there any action I can take if I believe it was a scam to get my money? California.

Answer:you can try to get a judgment in small claims court. this may allow you to garnish wage or place a lien, but fighting the case internationally may end up costing you more time and effort than $5k is worth.

Where can i get a sponsor to help me get out of debt?

2010-02-25

i have debts over $17,000 that are overwhelming!

Answer:I don't understand your use of the word "sponsor". Do you mean a mentor? The best place that I know of to get help is on MSN Money. There is a board called "Your Money". Here is the URL:

http://moneycentral.msn.com/community/me…

Go over there, post every thing that you owe, with the current balance, minimum payment, and the interest rate. Also post your entire budget, including all of your income, and your outgoing money. List everything that you spend money on. The people over there can tell you what to do to get out of debt.

Be prepared for some tough love. If you need a more coddling, less blunt approach, you can post all of the same information to the MSN Women in Red message board. They will give the same advice, but will also try to make you feel good about yourself, and try to make you feel like none of this is your fault at the same time. Frankly, it makes me ill. I prefer up front, blunt advice. But if coddling is what it takes for you to get help, then go to the Women in Red.

If you can't stomach posting all of this on a public message board, then I recommend Dave Ramsey. Go to your local public library, and check out books by Dave Ramsey. Read and follow his advice.

Answer:Your only chance of private charity help is if the debts were accrued under catastrophic circumstances….such as: you have a 14 year old child with leukemia and the debts are medical related…otherwise, there's no such thing as a "sponsor" to get you out of debt.

Answer:A "sponsor"? Not likely. Get some debt counseling from a local nonprofit.

Please recommend a professional men

My bank will settle a loan @25% should i get this in writing?

2010-02-25

Yes you should. If you don't they ca can come back and charge you whatever you like and you won't be able to prove what they originally said.

Answer:Get all terms of any settlement deal you reach with debt collectors IN WRITING BEFORE you give them your money. This letter should state the settlement amount and that the account will be settled/paid in full upon receipt of this amount from you. Never accept settlement deals over the phone that are not backed up in written terms. If you don’t, the debt collectors will deny that any settlement was ever made once they get your “settlement” money and will come back demanding more money from you.

Answer:No; I would take their word for it. There is not enough trust in the world these days. Take a leap of faith.

Answer:you can expect to receive a 1099/1098 for "cancellation of debt" – that will be income you will have to report on your tax return and pay taxes on

Answer:Yes, if you talked to their collections department and they verbally agreed, they should send you a written agreement,

Answer:Always. If you don't get it in writing, they never agreed.

How can i improve my credit if no one will give me any?

2010-02-25

i settled my outstanding accounts in 2006 (paid 80%) and still cant get anything,

Answer:When you settle a debt for less than the full amount you damage your credit. If you settle, always try to get a "pay for delete" contract. Most will not do this for less than the full amount unless the statute of limitations has passed. Get a secured(not prepaid) credit card from a local bank or credit union. Be sure they report to the major agencies on a regular basis. Good luck.

Answer:Pay the rent, the light bill, the water bill, and any other bills on time for the next two years.

Debt to credit ratio?

2010-02-25

Is my debt to credit ratio that affects my credit score a total of ALL my open credit lines, or does each individual card's debt to credit ratio count? And what about store cards… are they included? Oh, and will it lower my credit score when I start closing all those store cards (I have several)? I want to get rid of them and just have two major credit cards. Four questions in one… :)

Answer:it is 100% of your unused credit divided by 100% of your total credit limits. closing accounts will hurt this ratio as the denominator will decrease. you want cards open but $0 balance to get bet ratio.

Answer:don't close your store cards, if you do your score will flat line- i suggest you charge something a blouse, or anything small, and pay it off at the end of the month(in full)

Answer:it includes all revolving accounts (credit card, store cards…). If all of your card balances are paid in full and none of them are your oldest account then it shouldn't have a very big impact on your score if you close them.

How do I get a used auto loan without a co-signer?

2010-02-25

I'm in a very frustrating situation, and I've been in this same situation for over a year now. I'm 23 years old with a credit score of 720 (averaging my 3 credit scores) and I'm trying desparately to obtain a vehicle. I live with my parents so I have no bills, I have never had a loan payment of any kind and my only credit line is my Capital One credit card that I've now had for over a year, with perfect payments.

I've applied at large dealerships, small dealerships, banks, credit unions, CitiFinancial, and CapitalOne for an auto loan but no one will give me one without a co-signer because I have "limited" credit history, but no one I know has good enough credit to co-sign. I've also tried leasing a vehicle but I get the same answer.

Larger dealerships will however approve me for a brand new car but I simply can't afford those kinds of payments. Everyone I talk to says it's the economy that's making this hard for me, and I should wait at least a year before applying… but I can't go a year without a car. I have a full time job and I make okay money, and I have no outstanding debts of any kind. Why is it this difficult for me to get a used car??

Answer:Financed cars is more expensive to insurance cause it requires full coverage. You can compare how much you would pay for full coverage of this car using this tool – carinsurance.yoll.net

Answer:a large down payment (20-40%) and a good loan to value ratio will be a big help. Go to a local credit union and sit down with a loan officer. They will likely tell you exactly what they require from you.

Your credit score is good but people don't seem to understand that the score is used to screen applicants. The score will likely get your application reviewed, but loan officers don't like to see a short credit history. There is a big difference between paying a credit card on time for one year and paying a car loan on time for the next 3 years. Do you pay your credit card in full every month. If not, you need to be sure to do so. This will not only raise your score, it will show creditors that you don't tend to spend more than you earn.

How to get rid of old marks on my credit report?

2010-02-25

Is the drop off date 8 years on old marks on a credit report? Who do you contact to get these off? Is it the actual reporting agency? Like where you request the form from? Thanks!

Answer:It is 7.5 years for most items, but 10 years for legal judgments. You contact the credit reporting agencies and the forms are on their respective websites. Look for a link referring to "Dispute Information" or something to that effect.

Answer:Oh man I’ve been there! I tried doing it myself! But dealing with the bureau is sooo friggin time consuming! My sister went through this credit repair company and instead of taking a year or two, they helped her out in like 10 months. Through their guidance, she was able to really get those old negative out! I mean really they’re should be a class in high school that teaches you these things LOL but I guess you can say they are the next best thing! They’re website is www.icreditinc.com and I hope they can help you out!

Answer:no, i am not agree

Subsidized Loans??? Help!!!!?

2010-02-25

If you take out a subsidized loan say for $5000, six months after graduation is when you start making payments but what if I have the full $5000 right after graduation can I fully pay it off or will my "debt" be WAY more than $5000?

Answer:With a subsidized loan, your plan of paying it off will work. If it was unsubsidized, you would owe a few hundred more bucks.

Is it too early to ask for a credit line increase?

2010-02-25

I had a chapter 7 discharged in January of '09. In February '09 I did a free credit report check and my credit score was 634. I started receiving credit card offers and finally accepted one in May, with a $39 annual fee and a $300 credit limit. I've paid it off in full, on time, each month, and am considering asking them to increase my credit limit (in order to improve my credit score). If they increase the limit I will still continue to pay it in full each month. What are the chances of them saying yes? Thanks for your consideration.

Answer:You can use this credit monitoring service to pre-estimate future scores for different scenarios of such payments – credit-report-free.totalh.com

Answer:1) Never hurts to ask.

2) Without knowing the exact bank you are talking about AND not knowing anything about your income and other debt, it is impossible for ANYONE to tell you what your "chances" are.

Just ask for one….there is no penalty other than hearing the word "no".

Answer:Since you have been paying on time they might all you can do is call and ask.

What do i need to take to the bank if i want to get money from my account. Just my driver

Can 4 people be on the same credit card?

2010-02-25

You will need one card holder.

The others will be authorized users.

Be a bit careful with that.

Authorized users raise red flags with creditors – especially if they are underage.

Expect your interest rate to go up, or your credit limit to come down.

To prevent this from happening pay in full each month for what you spend.

Don't carry balances and pay any interest.

Not carrying balances is also a good way to get top 800 scores.

Authorized users do not develop credit by being added to an account.

/

Answer:one primary others can be added as authorized users, but be careful if you plan to do that

Where can I find a default judgment against me?

2010-02-25

Depends on the type of judgment. You can always ask the court…..seems like the logical place to start.

I made a credit card payment online but they said I didn

2010-02-25

I don't have the confirmation number I thought they would email it to me but they don't email confirmation numbers. I never missed a payment with them and I am very upset about this.

Answer:Lol this happened to me as well….still in the process of fixing it. You have to call the credit card company and they will give you a fax number where your bank can fax a copy of the check you sent to them proving cleared payment. If your payment did in fact go through, then they also can't legally charge you late fees, interest, etc. So if they do that, give them another call and have them fix that also. Bank statements probably won't tell them enough…if they have the money they will need the check numbers so that they can search within their own records to see exactly what happened to it. Hope this helps.

Answer:Without a confirmation number or proof from your bank account where the funds were withdrawn, you have no proof. Call them, though, and they will probably waive any late fees if you've always paid on time. Most credit card companies will waive late fees once per year for their good customers. I've had payments get lost in the mail and they've always waived the late fees. Chances are you got distracted and never hit the final "pay now" button. Have had that happen more times that I can count when using Paypal to pay for an ebay purchase. Just call and talk to them. They will understand and will look at your past payment history. Also, late payments don't go on your credit report unless they are more than 30 days late, so don't get all worked up over it. :)

Answer:4 ALL of u out there who shop online, the BEST place 2 get proof of pmt is thru yer local bank from which the pmt was made. they can look up yer acct (if u used check card/ personal check) & they'll know if a pmt was withdrawn, when, & by whom. if u get a printout of the transaction, u can get the address of the creditor in question, & u can actually send a copy right 2 them if needed. IF no results, u can go get a good atty online from

westopdebtcollectors.com

they specialize in consumer protection

Answer:1) No one e-mails confirmation numbers.

2) When you make a payment, there is a screen that has your confirmation number on it that says "PRINT THIS SCREEN FOR YOUR RECORDS". When they say to print, they mean to print.

3) Can you show on your bank records that the money was taken OUT of your account prior to the due date?

Unless you did #2 or #3, you are at their mercy. Next time, print the confirmation page!

Answer:Well unless you have prove as far as a confo page that you print out or if they took the money out of your account to show them then there is nothing you can do. If they took the money out of your bank account then just print and fax them that to prove that they took a payment and didn't post it.

What is

2010-02-25

A scam that makes people think they can get a loan with bad credit. Banks learned their lesson with dealing with financially irresponsible people.

Once I pay off my credit card, how long until it reflects on my credit report debt/income ratio?

2010-02-25

You can use this credit monitoring service to pre-estimate future scores for different scenarios of such payments – credit-report-free.totalh.com

Answer:Credit cards report once a month (usually).

Usually on the closing day, to reflect a higher balance.

So lets say you pay off your card today.

The company just reported on your closing date – lets guess Nov 1.

On Dec 1, they will report again.

Hopefully then, your balance will be very low, since you are starting to pay in full each month to develop top 800 scores and never pay interest in your life ever again.

How long to wait to get a credit card?

2010-02-25

Well I would like to get a credit card so that I can start building my credit. But I applied at my bank which I work at and had gotten denied. I applied at Kohl's and got denied. But I have a car and a car loan at my bank, one of the reasons I got denied was because I have too much left on my car loan another was because I have no revolving credit and also because there was too many inquiries on my credit. Do I wait for about a year or more and then apply? I am also 20 and going to be 21 on Dec.9th is that one reason why? should I wait till I turn 21?

Answer:You are not 21 one yet, and the banks are bracing themselves for the new laws.

Have you tried a gas card? Those are easy to get also.

As a last resort, get a secured card at your bank.

Or call around and see what banks offer these – about half do.

This card, with good usage, turns into a credit card in as little as 6 months.

Use it incorrectly and it can take 2 years.

Proper usage – pay in full for what you charged !

Note: Once you pay off that car loan, you will have no trouble getting credit cards.

Rememeber to never carry a balance, you never pay interest this way and you get top 800 scores.

/

Answer:You should try and get a card right away. You need to start building credit ASAP. There are cards out there that will give you a card. Try more lenient cards such as a department store card like JC Penny's or a gas card such as the BP Credit Card.

Answer:ou are not 21 one yet, and the banks are bracing themselves for the new laws.

Have you tried a gas card? Those are easy to get also

I need to get an apartment ASAP but my credit is horrible!?

2010-02-25

I’ve seen companies offering to “fix” my credit but I am a lil “iffy” about it… what do I do?

Answer:Сredit repair workеd fine to fix my credit. They disputed and removed lots of bad items from my credit report. I used this service – credit-report-score.10001mb.com

Answer:The company's that say they will fix your credit are scams unless you pay your debt your credit will not be fixed. As far as an apartment I know some place will accept a cosigner that doesn't have to be living in the apartment but some will say we don't accept cosigners that's aren't going to be living in the apartment with you. You can also try to find a place that doesn't check credit it will more than likely not be the most ideal place to live but you would get in without any problem.

Answer:Some apartments will not require a credit check, if your income is high enough (monthly needs to be at least 3x your monthly rent). Another option is to have a cosigner for the apartment. Or, look for apartments near college campuses… they are more lenient about a less than stellar credit score. Companies cannot "fix" your credit score… it cannot be improved by paying. It's a reflection of your past credit history. If there's an item on your credit report that shouldn't be there, you can "fix" it yourself with the credit bureau.

Answer:Well dear, the best advice I can give you is to have some patience because you will not be able to get an apartment that fast if your not doing anything to repair your credit right now! You can start by repairing it yourself by calling the credit bureaus and asking them to send you a list of all your balances and start paying them off but those negatives will take a while so your best bet is to learn how to manage your credit cards and your money!! These days there should be more companies teaching people how to manage and not scam them into getting their credit “fixed”. I know of this great company that actually guides you through it and gives their clients resources on how to not fall back into bad credit. My sister is going through the same thing you are going thru and went thru this company called “icreditinc.com”, I mean had she listened to me about how to spend her money, she probably wouldn’t be going through it but thanks to that company they’re actually whipping her into shape, giving her the resources she needs to avoid the problem altogether and they helped her erase most of those unsightly negatives and in about 6 more months she’ll finally be able to get her own car! I mean I hope my answer was helpful and I’ll add the link in for the website. its: www.icreditinc.com, Good Luck!

Answer:The "fix" is a scam. It may clean your credit for a month or so(if anything) but that is about it. The only way to really clean up your credit is to deal directly with the people reporting. Try to negotiate a pay for delete contract on any outstanding balances.

Answer:Companies cannot "fix" your credit. Your past credit is just that YOUR PAST CREDIT. If you have bad credit all you can do is change you behavior and get good credit.

Are there any good credit card consolation companies that would be recommended?

2010-02-25

i have just over 12K in debt and i keep getting laid off, back to work, then laid off again. is very hard to pay that off without working fulltime.

anyways, i was just seeing if anyone knew of a good company that will really help to get the payments down and eventually paid off

thanks

Answer:See http://www.esuperfind.com/lowermybills.p… the affiliated site is an Experian company BBB approved so very safe.

They might or they might not have you on. It depends on many factors and how big the debt is.

Answer:Consumer Credit Counseling Services is really the only legit one out there. They do not charge you anything. And, they work with your credit card companies to consolidate your loans and lower the interest payments. They do not make any money from you, but are paid by the credit card company WHEN the credit card company is paid in full. Until it is paid in full, they receive nothing. So, if you start with them, stay with them until your balances are paid in full. And, make sure the last payments are made throught CCCS, otherwise, they do not receive anything for the work they did. They are non-profit, but do still have overhead and salary expenses. Because they really do need the people they help to actually pay, they will tell you if they are not able to help you and if you should just file bankruptcy instead. Some of the other companies will charge YOU a fee and put you on a plan even if they know they can't help you and that you will eventually have to file bankruptcy. Those are your crooks. CCCS is not that way. With $12,000 in debt, I'm sure they can help you. BUT, they require regular payments, which may be hard if you don't plan ahead for when you will be out of work.

Answer:Although your best bet is to avoid these companies altogether, but I know that some folks just don't have the time or patience to handle this sort of issue on their own. That said, I recommend you consult the following article which provides some excellent advice on debt consolidation companies; and recommends some to avoid, as well as some that they feel are more legitimate:

http://www.creditinfocenter.com/debt/Deb…

Best of luck to you!

Can a debt collector call my dad?

2010-02-25

right now im disputing charges made by an apartment i used to live at..they have sent it to collections and have been calling my dad several times at work when he has asked them to stop. the reason they have his number is bcz he was my emergency contact on the lease, he is not a cosigner of anything..

Answer:They will even find out your neighbors phone number and call them.

I've heard of that happening.

They can call anyone that knows you – totally legal.

Even your employer.

Send them a certified letter requesting for the calls to stop.

By law they have to stop.

The bad part about this – it will speed up the process in taking you to court.

/

Answer:Well they can call who ever they want as long as they don't disclose any info to them. If they just call them to get you a message then that is completely fine. They can call neighbors even, if they are calling him at work he needs to tell them that they are do so and legally they can't call him at work anymore but he must tell them it's is place of business. Also if you aren't answering your phone or you don't have a phone they will continue to call other people to get to you and again it's completely legal as long as they don't disclose any info about why they are calling. All they can really say is im so in so from so in so company and i need to get in contact with her.

Answer:If he has asked them to stop calling then they will have to. You may need to send a cease and desist letter to them. You could contact them yourself and give them a contact number. Then they would have no reason to call him. Read the fair debt collection practices act.

Answer:If the landlord is calling, yes.

If a 3rd party debt collector is calling, no, and the collector is in violation of federal law.

$6500 tax credit. Do I qualify??????

2010-02-25

I lived in a home for 9 years and recently sold it and purchased new. My wife and I fall under the income requirements for married couples. Im a little confused about contract versus closing. We closed on our new home Nov 10th but we signed a contract to purchase the new home back in October. Is the IRS looking at closing date??? Will we qualify?? We were suppose to close Nov 3rd but appraiser drug his feet. Maybe we should be glad.

Answer:I just read about that yesterday.

As long as you closed on November 6 or after you qualify.

I'm looking it up, see if I find the article again.

Found it : Good reading

It was in Kiplinger.com if this link doesnt work.

It was in the front page as "rules for new tax credit" scroll down a bit – it's in that front page.

/

Answer:You should call up your appraiser and thank him. Due to his dragging his feet, it sounds like you qualify.

Qualifying home purchases have to be made after November 6, 2009. Your HUD-1 Settlement Statement you received is the proof required for the date. From what you stated above it should be dated November 10, 2009 which is after the required November 6th date.

There are several other requirements you may want to check out.

Answer:I believe if you close after 11/6 you will qualify. 11/6 was the date the bill was signed and is the effective date of this paragraph of bill.

that delay from 11/3 to 11/10 may have given you $6,500

Can I choose which balance to pay on a credit card? Please Help?

2010-02-25

I have a credit card that has two APR's associated with it. One is a lower promotional APR applied to part of the total balance and the other is my normal rate applied to the remainder of the balance. My promotional rate is good for 2 years at a reasonably low rate. However when I pay my bill the credit card company applies all of the payment towards the balance with the lower rate. Is there anyway to choose which balance to apply the payment to or is that set in stone?

Answer:Pay it all off in full and watch your credit score sky rocket.

Carrying balances is harmfull to your credit worthiness.

Employers check, car insuance companies, and even landlords.

Don't mess up your life and your future by carrying balances.

You can get top scores without ever paying a penny interest.

It is 100% myth that carrying balances is good – something that ladies that watch QVC will tell you.

And no, you can't choose which interest rate you can pay.

At least not for now. The laws are changing soon.

/

Answer:Not sure if your bank lets you pick which balance a payment goes towards, but it might be in your CC contract.

Try not to have a revolving balance on a CC and a no-no on department store cards. Use a CC to buy some items, then a week before the bill is due, pay it off in full. This will build a solid credit history, without problems, you won't have to carry cash around, won't be in debt, or be paying a bank any extra fees for a short-term loan.

Answer:I think the bank will always put it to the lowest rate first. Maybe you can call the bank to make sure. In that case, you better pay it (the full balance) all, no debt, period.

I

2010-02-25

Oh, I should say I'm not a student at the moment.

…I just know someone will ask that…

Answer:Step 1: Get the checking account.

Note: Getting a cell phone WILL NOT establish credit.

Yes, they check your reports – but they do not report on a monthly basis – since it's not a loan.

Miss a payment – then watch them report.

Other things that don't establish credit – renting furniture, financing a vacation, getting a timeshare.

Your teacher is right.

The only way to get top scores is to get a credit card and pay in full each month.

You never pay interest and you live debt free.

Get a department store card or a gas card to start – easier to get.

By next February you will have to be 21 to get a credit card unless you have a co-signer.

The laws are changing.

You may have a lot of trouble getting a card since these new laws are going through but give it a try.

How can i get a debit card at 17?

2010-02-25

Most banks in the UK have accounts that give debit cards to under 18's and in some cases 11 years old!

Natewest for instance gives young people Solo debit cards from age 11-16.

You don't need your parents to have an account there although you may need their signature, they do not need to be ON the account though.

I was working full time by age 16, had my own account and debit card!

I would look into Natwest (adapt account) and Barclays, as those are ones I went with (Natwest gives Solo cards and Barclays guve Visa Electron cards) You can use debit cards online and in shops as long as they take Solo or Visa Electron (and that's for 11 year olds OR 16yrd olds!)

Answer:Call your local banks. Walk in or call and ask them their terms, for a new debit card with checking/savings. Then read all the paperwork carefully so you know the policies well. Avoid the "sign jointly" to open an account or get a loan always; do not place someone else on the line if you could not pay your bills.

Answer:Some banks offer student checking at age 17.

Bank of America used to just a few short months ago.

Call your local banks and ask.

You do not need a parent for student checking.

You will receive one box of checks and a debit card.

Make sure you read all the fees in case you over draft.

Banks are starting to charge $36 each time you spend money you don't have.

Ouch.

/

Answer:You would have to have a parent open a joint checking account and they will send you a debit card for that checking account. Or you can wait till you turn 18 and you then can get one in your name by yourself.

Answer:If your parents have an accout in the bank you can just open an joint account and apply for it.

Deleting accounts from credit report.?

2010-02-25

Does anyone know how many points your credit score may increase once a account has been deleted.

Answer:Сredit repair workеd fine to fix my credit. They disputed and removed lots of bad items from my credit report. I used this service – creditreport.imess.net

Answer:Stop.

Did you know that deleting accounts in good standing can lower your score?

"Length of credit history" is 15% of your fico.

Never delete your oldest account.

You can have a 40 page credit report and still have top scores – I am proof.

You are also reducing the overall amount you have on all your cards for "available credit". A number the fico considers.

Accounts with negatiave items on them will still show up for a period of 2 to 7 years.

/

Answer:You can close an account and it will show up as closed on your credit report but it is not deleted.

It's still there just not an open account.

If employer specifies credit check, will bankruptcy automatically deny the job?

2010-02-25

If someone has a bankruptcy on their record and they apply for a job where the employer has them sign something saying they will pull a credit report, can they assume the employer will not hire them? The reason I ask is that I don't want to waste my time filling out applications and interviewing if they are going to turn me down because of my credit situation.

Answer:i would say that 99.9pct of companies that run a credit check would not hire you…

one main reason they do it is to see if there are problems….

Answer:It will only affect you if you are applying for jobs that you will be dealing with large amounts of cash.

Someone with a bankruptcy is looked as one that is not good with money and may not resist the temptation to handle $10,000 in cash in a cash register.

/

Answer:They can't hold a bankruptcy against you If they want hire you do to a bankruptcy you can sue them. Over half the company's out there are in bankruptcy so that would be double Standard.

Answer:That's a safe bet.

What are some credit cards I can get with really bad credit?

2010-02-25

it all depends on your credit score and whats on your credit report..but i applied for a first premier card and got approved its an amazing card and instantly boosted my score 20 points!! also i just got an orchard bank card and made my first payment so it hasnt affected my score yet..first premier has a few fees but totally worth it

Answer:If you have bad credit, please avoid further digging because the credit card companies affiliates will rip you off with "secure" Credit Cards. Basically the interest is higher, the penalties are higher, and they will ask for a deposit and a processing fee, etc.

You better off fixing your credit history and wait a few months after the repairs to apply for Credit Cards again, and this time be more responsible.

Answer:First off-if you have bad debt from let say.. a car repossession.. then you can go on any website like Visa or Mastercard and apply for different cards there, by looking att what the 'worst' credit card is.

However if you are in the hole already with debt, I do not recommend getting a credit card, or even trying, because.. well.. Its obvious isnt it?

Answer:You will need to fix your credit first.

Go to you local bookstore and get a book on credit repair in the finance section.

They will tell you step by step, what letters to write, hot to settle, negotiate, or get lower rates.

Be careful with online scams.

They will charge you processing/application fees and then deny you and keep your money.

Ask the bank in which you have a checking for a secured card.

This card – with good usage turns into a credit card in as little as 6 months. Don't use it correctly – not paying in full and it can take 2 years.

Once it turns into a credit card – pay it in full each month – you will get amazing credit ratings.

How can I get a company to cancel my account when they don

2010-02-25

I am on automatic payments with a web hosting company. I decided to take down my webpage and cancel my account. It's been two weeks so far, and they've already charged me for next month. I've posted a complaint with the BBB, but I don't think this company will care. They don't respond to phone calls, emails, or submitted tickets. I've requested cancellation exactly as instructed on their site, but there is simply no one to contact there.

My main concern is: If I change my credit card number to get the charges to stop, will this reflect badly on my credit report?

Answer:Dispute the charge with your credit card company, in writing. Enclose copies of the emails showing that you requested the service to be canceled. They will issue a temporary credit to your account while waiting for a response from the company. If they don't receive a response the credit will stay. If they continue to charge your card, work with the bank to deny the charges in the future.

Answer:Call your credit card company and tell them they charging services without your consent and it's a fraud. The card company will cancel any subscriptions on your credit card directly without any fees etc.

But if you tell them they keep charging yoru card when you told them to stop, they will file some work and reimburse the money they stole.

Answer:File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. Their toll free # 1-877-382-4357.

Answer:what u CAN do NOW is look @ the NEXT bill's return address. NOW contact the BBB in that area. tell them what u told us here

I know checking your credit can hurt your score, but it doesn't mention anywhere on Discover's site whether or not this tracker will have an adverse affect on your credit.

How would you increase credit rating from 750 to over 800?

2010-02-25

I've maintained a credit rating of 750ish for some time now and have been wondering what it takes to push it to 800 or higher. I have 15 years of credit history (all good) with a number of satisfied installment loans on record. I had cancelled a few old credit cards, both store and national, due to lack of use or the stores going out of business. I use only my one remaining national card (Discover) and it is also my oldest card (15 years) carrying what I'd guess is a good limit. I use it frequently and pay my balance off every single month. My income is strong and my debt to income ratio is almost nothing. With all of this noted, I'm wondering why I'm not rated higher? Would getting a second national credit card help with a healthy mix of credit and increase my score?

Answer:You can use this credit monitoring service to pre-estimate future scores for different scenarios of such payments – creditreport.imess.net

Answer:I agree, there's no real difference between 750 and 800,

If you are at 750, then aging is the best way to increase your score, New inquires and accounts will only take longer to get there, but in this day of credit tightening it may not be a bad idea to have another card as a backup to your Discover,

Answer:You've done everything you can and the only other thing that will help is aging. Nothing you can do to speed that along.

Answer:a credit score changes about every 12 months of activity. Be patient.

Answer:I wouldn't obsess over credit score.

My credit scores are 550,593 and 546..i pay all my CC

2010-02-25

I wanna raise my score so all 3 are in the 600's..what else can i do besides wait it out..i have an orchard bank and a first premier card. I highly recommend them to anyone.

Answer:Сredit repair workеd fine to fix my credit. They disputed and removed lots of bad items from my credit report. I used this service – credit-report-score.10001mb.com

Answer:Well, paying off other debts in yoru credit history will help but if such debtors been in your credit profile for so long you can have all 3 agencies to remove them from your profile. Basically, we are making a garden and removing all the weeds.

Next, do not apply for anything whatsoever for 6 months to a 10 yrs. This will raise your credit since it getting denied or applying for credit lowers your credit score.

I would tell you more, but I do not know the extent of your credit history so these basics will help a beginner as yourself.

Kevin F

That's scam that can be done by friends and family. My parents did that too me so I can have good credit right out of High school, which was 800.

What did they do? They put the utilities under my name. Then they put me on their high end Credit cards, which these "online tradelines" do, as an authorized user but without my personal Credit Card. Whenever they paid the bills, which was always by the 3rd or 4th week, my credit score would sky rocket.

Answer:You can achieve top 800 scores by paying all your credit cards in full each month – I am proof.

You never need to pay a penny interest to get an amazing rating.

Keep using them, but charge something you need like food or gas, and pay it in full the day you get the bill in full in the mail.

/

Answer:Pay them all off, pay off all your regular bills early, and wait it out for two years.

I assume that if you have an orchard bank card, that you had a serious credit crunch or a bankruptcy recently?

Answer:I would use one of those authorized user tradeline programs. I have seen scores jump 120 points by adding 3 tradelines. Good luck.

Answer:"Common Sense" is right. Keep doing it – it's your long-term record that will gradually raise your score.

Answer:Keep doing what you're doing…another 18-24 months and you'll be in much better shape.
