Summary judgement foreclosure?
2010-03-08 at 09:02 pm adminWe owned a home and could not pay for it. We tried working with the mortgage company to no avail. They proceeded with foreclosure. They got a summary judgement–we dont live in the house but have continued to pay the insurance, heat/elec. water etc…. It is for sale but sad to say no buyers. My question….since they have the summary judgement are they the owners…can we stop paying the upkeep? We no longer live there but still have the keys…do we give them the keys???
Answer:If they foreclosed, then they own it. The probably changed the locks. I would notify them in writing via certified mail, and then close all accounts pertaining to the property. You are paying for something that isn't yours anymore.
