What is the percentage of radiologists that end up with cancer? (My cousin is a radiologist and i am somewhat concerned)

Answer:I work in a University Health Centre Pathology Lab, and our best and highly-experienced haematolgist, now retired, told us that in his experience, the Leucocyte Differential Count (an examination of the types of White Blood cells in a drop of someone's blood, and their proportions) *always* showed some abnormality not found with the general public.

You are very right to be very concerned.

I don't trust ANYONE who says that this or that level of radiation is "safe," when the salaries of the people that old them that are being paid by the institutions that financially profit from treating the cancers that radiation causes.

Answer:I could not find actual percentage but chances of them getting cancer is more than general population if they do not follow guidelines taught them during there Education.

Most radiologists work in hospitals. They are required to work around radioactive materials which can present some long-term health hazards if safety guidelines are not followed. A majority of radiologists work in larger health care organizations rather than private practices and work long or irregular hours.

Each unit has these guide lines prominently displayed.Your cousin should follow them.

Answer:well if you mean a radiologist like the specialty medical field that takes care of x-rays, ct scans, mri's, etc…then they know much more about cancer then you do…so i wouldnt worry about them..

In a town near where I live they're building a house for Extreme Makeover Home Edition, so my mom and I decided to check it out. However, we didn't know we'd get so close to it or the fact that we'd be standing in the same spot for over 3 hours straight, so we didn't bring sunscreen. It was worth it, though. When I got home, my mom and sister both pointed out my huge sunburn, and it hurts a little. I put Aloe Vera on it twice. I also have heat rash under one arm, and that's probably the most painful since I already had a rash in that area to begin with. I also have big mosquito bites, and that's just adding to everything lol. I already took a shower, so what else can I do to feel less….gross? Lol

Answer:Drink lots of water and eat a healthy diet. Your body is working hard to relieve your sunburn, which is why it feels warm to the touch. Make sure you are properly hydrated and fed to help your body do your job. Nothing special is required beyond 8 glasses of water a day and some nutritional meals. The main concern is that while on vacation or other places where sunburns occur, people are out in the sun and won't drink enough water, or will eat junk food all day and not eat anything nutritious for their body.

Wear lose-fitting and light clothing, so that you do not irritate your skin further. This will ease the pain and keep your mind of your sunburn. Light cotton shirts and cloth pants are perfect.

Apply skin moisteners or special after-sun lotions containing aloe to the burnt area. These lotions will moisten the skin and promote more rapid healing. This is perhaps the most important step, and should be performed daily and after bathing.

you cann also crush a raw tomato and apply it to the burned areas. This will be painful, but you will find that it speeds healing.

Cooled whole, plain yogurt applied topically can help soothe sunburned skin.

i had 2 heart attacks almost 2 years ago now , when it happened they placed 2 stents in my chest a week later they placed another in my chest , then about a month ago they placed another 2 stents in my chest , doctor told me next time i was going to have to go through open heart , anyway my question was , the last time i had this proceedure done it was "differant " than the first 2 times m, i am short of breath and im having pains that are going up towards my shoulder rather than the ones ive had that were towards my left side , any ideas why

Answer:You really need to ask this question to your doctor. Based on all of the procedures you have had it sounds like you have pretty severe heart disease. It is possible that the stents are no longer effective for you and that is why you are experiencing symptoms. Stents can become blocked and can even migrate so if you are having symptoms you need to be checked out.
